TITLE : HOW TO SET AN IP ADDRESS
For my course
assignment, I have done survey on my topic, How To Set An IP Address. Out of my
survey, I will present to you my report.
IP Address is the
public Internet Protocol
Address of your computer. If your computer is behind a
router or used a proxy server to
view this page, the IP address shown is your router or proxy server.
It is a numbering label assigned to each device and participate
in a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for
communication. An IP address serves two principal functions, there are host or
network interface identification and
location addressing.
HOW TO SET AN IP ADDRESS
Firstly,
click start and click control panel. Then, click network and sharing center.
Then when the Network
and Sharing Center opens, click on Change adapter settings.
Right-click on your
local adapter and select Properties. In the Local Area Connection Properties
window highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)then click
the Properties button.
Now select the radio
button Use the following IP address and enter in the correct
IP, Subnet mask, and Default gateway that corresponds with your network setup.
Then enter your Preferred and Alternate DNS server addresses. When you’re
finished click OK.
After that,close out of
the Local Area Connections Properties window. Windows will run network
diagnostics and verify the connection is good. Lastly, you can open the command
prompt and do an ipconfig to see the network adapter settings
have been successfully changed.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, I found
out that static IP addresses
are manually assigned to a computer by an administrator. The exact procedure
varies according to platform. This contrasts with dynamic IP addresses, which
are assigned either by the computer interface or host software itself.
